Seeing the Sunrise at Mount Merapi

First trip with us was to visit Mount Merapi, one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. We will pick you up at the hotel where you stay, or at Yogyakarta station if your arrival is before dawn. The journey from the hotel in the city center to the Merapi Jeep basecamp area takes about 30 minutes.

From the Jeep basecamp, you will be guided by a Jeep driver for a Mount Merapi tour. You will be invited to go around the Mount Merapi viewpoint and see the sunrise from there. After that, you will be invited to visit the My Remaining Treasure Museum, which is a collection of debris caused by the hot clouds of Merapi and historical photos of the eruption of Mount Merapi in 2010.

After the tour at Merapi is finished and you have got lots of beautiful photos or videos, then we will then take you to Prambanan Temple. From the Jeep Merapi basecamp it will take 30-45 minutes to drive. Before arriving at Prambanan Temple, you can ask the driver to rest for coffee and breakfast at a local restaurant.

Visit the Largest Hindu Temple in Indonesia “Prambanan Temple”

After around 45 minutes driving from Merapi, we will arrive at the Prambanan Temple parking area. Here we will show you the entrance to Prambanan Temple through a special entrance for foreign tourists. If you use our tour package, your tickets are already available and you just have to enter, but if you only rent a car and driver, you must buy tickets first.

If you are interested in visiting Prambanan Temple with a local guide according to your language, you can hire a guide at Prambanan Temple. The journey from Prambanan Temple to Pindul Cave will take approximately 90 minutes. When you arrive at the Pindul Cave basecamp, you will be guided by an experienced local Pindul Cave guide. You will be required to use tubing equipment for a safer adventure.

Equipment for tubing activities includes helmets, life jackets and rubber boots. Your tour guide will give you an explanation and show you photos of tubing activities in Pindul Cave. During your tour of Pindul Cave, you can use a smartphone or camera to capture your cheerful moments, but make sure you bring waterproof for your smartphone or camera.

The Pindul Cave tour will last approximately 2 hours. You will really enjoy your holiday here, so there’s no need to rush with your time. Tips for visiting Pindul Cave, bring extra clothes to change into because this is a water play activity and gets wet. After you finish your tour at Pindul Cave, we will take you back to the hotel where you are staying.
